INFORMATION PROVIDED ON THIS PAGE COULD BE OUTDATED. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE IN COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS, MAKE SURE TO CONTACT THE NECESSARY REPRESENTATIVES OF ANY AGENCIES THAT APPLY TO THE ITEMS YOU SELL AS A VENDOR, IN ORDER TO AVOID ANY LEGAL CONSEQUENCES. SOME INFORMATION ON THIS PAGE MAY BE OUTDATED, SINCE SOME REGULATIONS HAVE BEEN REVISED AS OF THE START OF 2016.
Honey, produce, and arts & crafts vendors are not required to obtain their own individual permits or licenses as of the present time. But, just because you are waived of that responsibility, does not mean you do not have to operate in accordance with health regulations. Any vendors distributing any form of prepared or processed food, whether prepared on-site or off-site, are required to be permitted by the New Mexico Department of Environmental Health.
Should any vendor knowingly engage in the act of improperly distributing regulated goods at the Hobbs Farmers' Market, HFM will not be held liable for the individual vendor's negligence. Vendors that sell or distribute any form of uncertified, unpermitted, or unlicensed goods and/or services can face very serious penalties from countless entities and government agencies, and may just as well be penalized by HFM, as well. Vendors assume all responsibility of their own dealings and cannot hold Hobbs Farmers Market or its volunteers liable for any negligent actions performed on a vendor's own behalf, nor will HFM be held liable for any consequences that occur as the result of the vendor's own ignorance regarding proper procedures for what is considered by HFM to be the vendor's own area of expertise.
On this page, you will find a few of the regulations provided to us by the New Mexico Environmental Department of Health. Click the links below to view each page.. Below the links for regulations, you will find all contact information for agencies that oversee the sales and health risk-prevention procedures for different categories of vendors. If you are selling any items in categories such as [prepping foods that require certification such as salsas, pickled veggies, etc., eggs, meats, or dairy], you are required by law to contact them for approval and/or to find out if you need to obtain a permit to conduct your business at our market.
Meeting the regulations, obtaining a permit, or becoming certified (when required) may seem like obstacles or roadblocks to the majority of our vendors. Hobbs Farmers Market asks that you do not look at this as a challenge or roadblock. Becoming a legitimate vendor is truly an opportunity for growth, for everyone including: yourself, the market, and the economy of your local community.
A copy of the most current regulations may be obtained at: http://www.env.nm.gov/foodprogram
Applications for food permits may be obtained at: https://www.env.nm.gov/fod/Food_Program/applications.html
